Joining & Discovering Communities
Every community on Nuts lives in one directory. You don’t have to join a community to browse its feed — only to post, chat, or get notified in it.
Browsing the directory
-
Open the app’s center menu and tap My Rooms.
-
Use the tabs across the top to switch views: All, Trending, Official (Nuts-verified communities, marked with a shield badge), and Joined (communities you’re already in).
-
Tap the search field and type to filter by name.
Each community card shows its logo, name, a short description if it has one, and its member count. A lock icon next to the name means it’s private.
Joining a community
Tap Join on any community card, or open the community and tap Join there.
For a public community, you’re in immediately — the button switches to Joined, no approval needed. For a private community, an owner or moderator needs to approve you first.
Leaving a community
Open the community, tap the ⋯ menu, and tap Leave. You’ll stop seeing its posts in your feed, along with its chat and notifications — you can rejoin anytime.
What you can see before joining
A community’s feed is open to browse whether or not you’re a member. Joining is what unlocks posting, chatting, getting notified about new activity, and — for communities you follow — having its posts show up in your main feed. Live chat entry points only appear once you’ve joined (see Community Chat).
On the web
- The Rooms directory is one click away in the sidebar (Rooms), rather than through the app’s center menu.
- Leaving asks you to confirm first: “Leave
community name? You’ll stop seeing its posts in your feed and can rejoin anytime.” The app leaves immediately, without asking. - The Trending tab also shows a Join/Leave button on each row on the web. In the app, Trending rows are for browsing only — tap through to the community page to join from there.
