Cracks
Cracks are a newer part of NutsMode and still evolving — the exact flow may change as it develops.
A Crack is how a chain forks. When you crack a video, your reply doesn’t just add to the chain it came from — it starts a brand-new chain of its own, with your video as that chain’s Seed. The new chain keeps a link back to the exact echo it branched from, so anyone looking at either chain’s history can trace the split.
What you can crack
You can crack an Echo — a reply somewhere in a chain — but not a chain’s original Seed. The video that starts a chain stays put; it’s the responses further down the line that can be taken in a new direction. If you try to crack a Seed directly, Nuts won’t let you — pick an echo further into the chain instead.
What happens next
Cracking spins off a new, independent chain rather than adding another reply to the original one. The person whose echo you cracked gets a notification that their video was cracked, crediting you as the one who branched off it. From either chain, you can trace the connection back through the chain genealogy view — the new chain shows where it split from, and the original echo shows that it was cracked.
