Echoes

An Echo is a video reply added to an existing chain. Chains are built entirely out of echoes stacking up after the Seed — reply to a chain, and your video joins the end of it for everyone to watch next.

Adding an echo on the app

  1. While watching a chain, tap the small + icon near the row of participant avatars to jump straight into recording a reply. If you watch through to the end of the chain, a Create Echo button appears there too, next to a Replay option.

  2. Record a new video with your camera, or pick one from your library — the same recording and editing tools as creating a Seed (trim, speed, filters, sound, captions).

  3. Tap Post, choose a community from the sheet that opens, and tap Save to publish.

Your video is added to the chain as its newest echo.

On the web

Tap the Echo button, then either record with your camera or upload a video file. Use the Chain dropdown to pick which chain you’re replying to, optionally add a sound from the audio picker, and tap Publish Echo.

Browsing a chain’s echoes

On the app

Swipe vertically to move through a chain’s echoes in order. Tap the chain progress indicator at the top of the screen to open a timeline list of the chain — tap any entry to jump straight to it.

On the web

Tap the small Chain pill in the top corner of the player to open the chain’s genealogy view — a bottom sheet showing the Seed at the top, echoes flowing down from it, and any Cracks branching off to the side. Tap any node in the tree to jump to it.
