Creating a Seed
A Seed is simply the first video in a chain. You don’t create a “Seed” as its own thing — you start a new chain, and whatever video you publish first into it becomes the Seed automatically. Everything after that is an Echo.
Starting a chain on the app
-
From the NutsMode tab, tap the + button. It expands to show a couple of options — tap Create Chain.
-
Record a new video with your camera, or pick one from your library.
-
In the editor, trim your clip, adjust its speed, apply a filter, add a soundtrack, or drop in captions and on-video text — use as much or as little of this as you want.
-
Tap Post. A sheet opens asking you to choose a community for the video — pick one and tap Save to publish.
Your video is now live as the Seed of a new chain, and anyone can reply to it with an Echo.
On the web
The web flow is split into two steps instead of one:
- Tap the Chain button. A “New Chain” window opens — give the chain a name (required) and, optionally, a short description and a thumbnail image. Tap Create Chain to save it. This creates the chain as an empty shell; it doesn’t have a video yet.
- Tap the Echo button, record with your camera or upload a video file, select the chain you just created from the Chain dropdown, and tap Publish Echo.
Because that’s the first video posted into the chain, it becomes the Seed automatically — same as on the app, just with the naming step done up front instead of inline.
